My name is Melanie Bourne. I am a Portraitl Artist and painter in Almeria, southern Spain, specialising in painting portraits of people in pastels, but also doing paintings of scenes, landscapes, Indalos and buildings. I have been painting all my life - studying art in Surrey in the UK and also at University in Liverpool in the North West of England where I obtained my Bachelor of Arts degree.
Me llamo Melanie. Soy una Retratista / Artista y pintora de retratos, viviendo en Almeria en el sur de España. Pintando es mi pasatiempo. Currently, I am exhibiting at the Hotel Valle del Este in Vera, in the Levante region of southeast Spain, close to Mojacar, and have painted many well-known local ' stars ' and personalities (including the famous ' Indalo Man ' ! ).
I concentrate on Portraits, but also buildings and landscapes. If you have a favourite scene or house, I can paint it for you. . . in particular, paintings of and/or art in Almeria.

As regards portraits . . . I exhibit at the Hotel Valle del Este golf resort in Vera, Costa Almeria. If you are in the region, I would be very pleased to meet you there to arrange a sitting. I can also do some work from photos although by and large I must meet people first before painting them. I travel to take commissions.

I help in a marketing services group, and understand the need for illustration within the publicity, advertising and marketing businesses.

For portraits, I can paint from life in the Hotel Valle del Este, Vera. Some people stay a while then take a break leaving me to complete the portrait from the photos I have taken. It is difficult to paint from a photo alone (for example, as a present) and generally I say that I must meet people before I start my paintings. However, this can be anywhere (I travel to meet you) and I then take lots of photos over an hour or so, and get to know you a bit. I realise that as a surprise gift, this is not always possible, so I can sometimes work from photos alone. For larger paintings and scenes, I do a small painted 'rough' to give you an idea of what is possible. If you are happy, I will continue to paint a large canvas picture.
Para los retratos, yo pinto directamente en la Hotel Valle del Este, Vera. Puedo hacer unas fotos en la Hotel. Es possible quedarse por un momento entonces sale y lo terminaré usando las fotos. Tengo que encontrale antes de comenzar con mis pinturas.
